In a major boost for Nigeria’s growing digital economy, UK-based DGCL Digital Cloud Academy has officially launched its operations in Nigeria, with a mission to equip both tech-savvy and non-tech individuals with in-demand cloud computing skills.
The founder of DGCL, Paschal Njoku, emphasised during a recent interview that the initiative is deeply rooted in a desire to “bring technology back home” and create equal learning opportunities regardless of location.
Njoku said: “Our goal is to help people transition into tech, even if they have zero background in it.”
He admitted that people are scared, stuck in jobs they are not passionate about, and unsure of what steps to take.
He however assured that with his platform, they can gain the skills, get certified, and land high-paying jobs in the tech space, without needing a computer science degree,”
The training, already successful in the UK, offers courses in cloud computing—especially Amazon Web Services (AWS)—as well as cybersecurity.
It provides a full suite of support including one-on-one mentorship, CV review assistance, interview preparation, and career advice.
According to Njoku, students in Nigeria will be learning side-by-side with their UK counterparts via an online platform, ensuring they receive the same quality of training and exposure.
Currently, he said, five Nigerian students are enrolled in the UK training program, and Njoku revealed that one participant recently passed their AWS Certification Exam—a milestone he described as a sign of the initiative’s early success.
“AWS is a critical technology for modern business operations. Understanding cloud computing gives people the edge in today’s job market,” he said. “And we don’t just teach the skills; we teach how to secure systems through cybersecurity training too.”
According to him, the academy also supports graduates by connecting them with global job opportunities and helping them craft compelling CVs and prepare for interviews.
“Some people just need to talk to someone who’s been through it before,” Njoku added. “That’s what changed my life. I asked questions, got mentorship, and found a path into tech through cloud certification. Now I want to do the same for others.”
The launch comes at a pivotal time for Nigeria, as the federal government pursues its plan to train three million Nigerians in digital skills.
Njoku stated that DGCL’s entry into the Nigerian market is expected to bolster this initiative by providing an accessible and affordable route into the tech industry.
He further stressed that cost should not be a barrier, pointing out that DGCL’s offerings are far more affordable than enrolling for a tech degree in the UK, yet just as effective in building job-ready skills.
“We’re saying to young Nigerians: you don’t need to spend £15,000 on a master’s degree. You can get high-quality training, mentorship, and career support from us—and you don’t even need to leave Nigeria,” he said.
With Nigeria’s tech ecosystem on the rise and global demand for cloud professionals increasing, DGCL Digital Cloud Academy’s expansion into Nigeria signals a bold step forward in empowering the nation’s workforce with the skills for the digital age.
