NSE defies gains in Airtel Africa, BUA, others to lose N138bn

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) shed some of the gains made last week on Monday despite gains recorded in giant stocks such as Airtel Africa, BUA Cement and others closing that closed in the green.
The benchmark index measuring price movement the market, The NSE All-Share Index (ASI) lost 0.75 per cent or 263.38 index points from 35,037.46 index points it closed on Friday to settle at 34,774.08 basis points on at the end of the Monday session.

Similarly, the market capitalisation of listed equities depreciated by N138 billion from N18.308 trillion on Friday to N18.171 trillion on Monday.
Investors traded 668.531 million shares valued at N7.849 billion in 10,319 transactions during the trading hours of Monday.
Zenith Bank again led the most traded equities with 94.034 million shares worth N2.509 billion.
This was followed by Transcorp’s 75.481 million shares estimated at N82.990 million.
