BUA Cement Boosts Rally as NGX Gains N117 Billion
Fortunes recorded in the shares of BUA Cement on Wednesday helped the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) to maintain uptrend as the market gained N117 billion to end the mid-week session.

As the sundry share price of BUA Cement appreciated by N4 or 4.65% to close at N90 per share, the gain across its over 33.864 billion shares outstanding translated into N135.46 billion profit for the company and this underpinned the general market performance.
As a result, the All-Share Index (ASI) of the local bourse advanced by 0.4% to 59,323.95 points. Accordingly, the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date gains increased to +6.4% and +15.8%, respectively.
The total volume traded increased by 9.2% to 643.03 million units, valued at N6.11 billion, and exchanged in 7,806 deals.
UNIVINSURE was the most traded stock by volume at 141.34 million units, while GTCO was the most traded stock by value at N1.44 billion.
Analysing by sectors, the Insurance index recorded the highest gain with 1.9% uptick, followed by Industrial Goods index at 1.8% while Oil & Gas index trailed with 1.8% rise.
Conversely, the Banking and consumer goods indices shed -0.6% and -0.1% respectively as declining sectors.
Meanwhile, market breadth for the session was positive as 43 stocks, led by BUA Cement contributed to the positive market stance for the session as against 25 losing stocks that brought sell pressure to the bourse.
AFROMEDIA (+10.0%) and ETRANZACT (+9.9%) recorded the most significant gains of the day, while JAIZBANK (-10.0%) and MEYER (-9.9%) topped the losers’ list.
