A Lagos businessman, Mr Bode Abamoda Omojujigbe, 49, has been dragged before Justice Olubusola Okunuga of the High Court of Justice, Ikeja, Lagos, on the allegation that he obtained petroleum products worth N95.591 million naira on credit by false pretence.
According to the case with charge No. ID/21908C/2023 seen by this newspaper, the defendant, Mr Abamoda, operates City Purveyors Ltd, through which he entered into a credit business deal with the plaintiff, Mr. Olukanmi Olulakin, chief executive officer of Fomon Petroleum & Gas (Nig) Ltd.
Fomon Petroleum & Gas majors in the supply of petroleum products, with particular interest in diesel supply.
It was gathered that sometimes in September 2022, Mr Olukanmi Olulakin supplied Bode Abamoda diesel worth the sum of N95,591,420.
Upon receipt of the product, Mr Abamoda allegedly refused to pay and became very elusive.
Mr Olulakin said after efforts to get Mr Abamoda to pay for the products supplied to him failed, he filed criminal report to the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (Annex) Alagbon Close, Ikoyi Lagos.
After the Police conducted a thorough investigation of the complaint and upon conclusion of their investigation, the federal government took charge of the case, acting as the complainant in the litigation in the interest of Mr. Olukanmi Olulakin.
As such, the suspect, Mr Bode Abamoda Omojujigbe, was charged to the Ikeja High Court with one count charge of Obtaining Credit by False Pretences contrary to Section 315(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos state 2015.
The case, assigned to Hon. Justice Olubusola Okunuga of the High Court of Justice, Ikeja Division, was listed for arraignment on 18th October, 2023.
However, Mr Bode Abamoda was absent on the date of arraignment, and the matter was adjourned to 5th December 2023.
