More than 300 delegates called to claim my two votes – Shehu Sani

More than 300 delegates in the just concluded gubernatorial primary election in Kaduna State have called one of the contestants, Senator Shehu Sani, to claim they are responsible for the two votes he got in the election.

The former senator who was bidding for the Kaduna state gubernatorial position contested the primary election under the umbrella of People Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to his contender, Honorable Isah Ashiru whom he congratulated.

In the election conducted by the opposition party on Wednesday, Sani’s performance was woeful as he got just two voted from a total of 760 delegates voted.

Isah Ashiru emerged winner with 414 votes to defeat Sani Sidi with 260, Ramalan Yero, 28, Sani Abbas, 15, Haruna Saeed, 11 votes and Shehu Sani, two votes. There were 30 invalid votes

Sani said: “The Kaduna PDP Governorship primaries has been concluded. I lost and Honourable Isah Ashiru won. I wish to congratulate him. Two Delegates voted for me without giving them a dime;unfortunately,I don’t know who they are, so that I can appreciate these clean votes. We look forward.”

Following the revelation that his two supporters were not yet know, he said more than 300 delegates have bombarded him with telephone calls claiming to be  the two loyal disciples.

Afterward, Sani took to his verified Twitter handle on Thursday to update his followers that since he disclosed that he got two clean votes from delegates he couldn’t identify, over 300 delegates had called him claiming to be the two voters.

“Two delegates voted for me without paying them kobo; But I have received over 300 calls from Different Delegates claiming that they are the two that voted for me and want to come and see me…See me se wahala abeg.”

Shehu Sanni contested and won the Kaduna Central Senatorial District on the platform of the AllProgressive Congress on 28 March 2015.

On 20 October 2018, he announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and defected to the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in Kaduna. He joined People Democratic Party in 2021 to contest for the highest political position in the state.
