President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Aina will succeed Is-haq Oloyede, whose second term in office ends on July 31, 2026. He is expected to assume duty on August 1.

The appointment of Aina, who turns 40 in July, makes him the youngest person to occupy the position since the establishment of the examination body.

He began his career at JAMB during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where he gained early experience in the administration of Nigeria’s admissions system.

Aina received his university education in the United Kingdom. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent and a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security from Loughborough University, where he also obtained a PhD in Digital Signal Processing. He further attended the Senior Management Programme at the Lagos Business School.

Until his appointment, he was a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he rose to the rank at the age of 39, making him one of the youngest professors in the field.

He has worked across academia, public policy, and the private sector, with over 15 years of experience. His advisory roles include engagements with the Job Creation Unit in the Office of the Vice President and several state governments, focusing on digital transformation and system optimisation.

Aina has also consulted for examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), providing expertise in ICT systems, examination integrity, and process improvement.

In the private sector, he co-founded Fluid Click Solutions Ltd, a technology and engineering services firm.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
