The Rector of Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade (GAPOSA), Ogun State, Dr. Sanni Kehinde Oseni, has promised to make internet access available for students and staff members of the institution.
Oseni made the pledge during the celebration of his first anniversary in office organised by the staff and students to honour him for his contributions towards the development of the institution.
Reeling out his vision for the next one year, the rector said his plan includes payment of examination bonuses, introduction of a student work-study program, provision of free internet access, health insurance for both staff and students, as well as establishment of an annual staff award to recognise outstanding contributions to the development of the institution.
The organisers of the ceremony said it was put together to honour the rector for his exemplary leadership in running the institution and his achievements with one year.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Rector, Mr. Taiwo Ogunyinka, hailed the rector’s dedication towards improving the institution’s academic and infrastructural standards.
He noted the notable accomplishments achieved within the past year, including new development projects, initiatives, and the fostering of a positive and inclusive working environment.
The guest speaker, Asiwaju Kunle Kalejaiye, also commended Oseni’s “transformational leadership, which significantly elevated Gaposa’s profile.”
Kalejaiye pointed to positive comments and feedback observed online as evidence of the rector’s success.
He, therefore, urged the rector to continue his open-door policy, which has fostered a welcoming and inclusive environment within the institution, while also advising him to avoid favoritism and ensure fairness for all staff and students.
Asiwaju Kalejaiye also acknowledged the rector’s ability to create an atmosphere of trust and respect, noting the strong rapport he has built with both staff and students.
