Vietnamese tech company VNG sued TikTok Inc. for allegedly using music from its unit Zing without permission and is seeking compensation of 221.5 billion dong ($9.5 million), according to a lawsuit filed at the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City.

VNG asked TikTok to remove all videos on its app and website containing music taken from Zing, according to the lawsuit, which was submitted to the court May 28. More than 11 million TikTok videos contain audio from Zing, it said.

TikTok’s Vietnam media agency said in an email the company was declining at present to comment on the lawsuit. The company denied violating Zing’s copyright last year, according to VNG’s lawsuit.
