NSE tops global performance list, advances by N168bn


 

Poised as world’s best performing exchange year-to-date (YtD), the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) waxed stronger on Tuesday as the trading floor opened for the final week of the year 2020.

Trading on Tuesday ended in the green territory following N168 billion profit recouped by investors, equivalent to 0.8 per cent appreciation in market index.

Specifically, the All-Share Index (ASI), which measures share price movement at the domestic bourse added 310.16 points to close the session at 39,110.17 basis points while market capitalization closed notched N20.447 trillion.

On a year-to-date basis, the bourse has posed impressive gain of 45.70 per cent despite economic uncertainties that beclouded the year, thus ranking above every other stock market in the world.

Trading report obtained from the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), however indicates a mixed turnover following 85.4 per cent appreciation in volume of trade and against 45 per cent decline in value traded for the session.

Similarly, market sentiments, measured by breadth also closed negative with the emergence of 20 decliners against 19 advancers and 20 other stocks, closing on flat prices at the end of the session.

  • CAP down 2.44% to close at N20
  • FLOURMILL down 1.61% to close at N27.5
  • GUINNESS down 1.03% to close at N19.3
  • GUARANTY down 0.30%to close at N32.7

  • Dangote traded 4.143 million shares valued at 172 million in 229
  • ZenithBank traded 29.904 million valued at N742.008 million in 392 trades
  • Access Bank pushed 40.135 million shares worth N353.274 million in 361 deals

  • AIICO traded 273.129 million shares worth N336.092 million in 55 transactions
  • OANDO trailed with 81.449 million shares valued at N323.326 million in 129 deals
  • FBNH exchanged 41.09 million share units valued at N294.212 million in 210 trades
