Nigeria’s 11 electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected N205.53 billion in revenue in July 2026, representing a 7.12 per cent increase from the N191.89 billion recorded in June.
The figure was disclosed in the July 2026 commercial performance report released by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Thursday.
According to the report, the DisCos recorded an aggregate collection efficiency of 81.95 per cent during the month, up 2.25 percentage points from June.
The distributors received energy valued at N333.94 billion in July, representing a 5.77 per cent increase from the previous month.
However, the DisCos billed customers N250.79 billion, resulting in a billing efficiency of 75.10 per cent.
The billing efficiency declined by 1.14 percentage points compared with June.
DisCos Record 74.91% Revenue Recovery Efficiency
NERC said the industry recorded an average revenue recovery efficiency of 74.91 per cent in July, an increase of 0.67 percentage points from June.
The regulator’s allowed average tariff stood atN130.15 per kilowatt-hour, while the DisCos’ actual average collection was N97.50 per kWh.
There is a revenue gap of N32.65 for every kilowatt-hour of energy distributed.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company recorded the highest collection efficiency at 101.78 per cent, collecting N34.78 billion against N34.17 billion billed to customers.
Eko DisCo also recorded the highest revenue recovery efficiency at 94.67 per cent, with an actual collection rate of N133.29 per kWh against an allowed tariff of N140.80 per kWh.
Ikeja Electric collected N34.73 billion from N39.54 billion billed, giving it an 87.85 per cent collection efficiency.
The company received energy worth N53.23 billion and recorded a billing efficiency of 74.28 per cent, while its revenue recovery efficiency stood at 76.60 per cent.
Northern DisCos Record Lower Recovery Rates
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company recorded the highest value of energy received at N56.77 billion and billed N43.96 billion.
AEDC collected N35.62 billion, representing an 81.03 per cent collection efficiency and a 76.72 per cent revenue recovery efficiency.
Port Harcourt DisCo recorded an 84.69 per cent collection efficiency after collecting N18.03 billion. Its revenue recovery efficiency stood at 84.95 per cent.
Benin DisCo collected N19.09 billion, representing an 89 per cent collection efficiency, while its revenue recovery efficiency was 79.15 per cent.
Several northern distribution companies recorded lower collection and revenue recovery rates.
Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company collected N5.22 billion from N10.46 billion billed, giving it a collection efficiency of 49.95 per cent.
Its revenue recovery efficiency stood at 39.71 per cent, with actual collections averaging N48.36 per kWh against an allowed tariff of N121.80 per kWh.
Jos DisCo recorded a recovery efficiency of 46.27 per cent, while Kano DisCo posted 55.41 per cent.
Yola DisCo received the lowest value of energy at N6.14 billion but recorded an 88.92 per cent collection efficiency after collecting N3.36 billion.
Ibadan DisCo received energy worth N40.17 billion, billed N28.33 billion and collected N24.35 billion.
The figures gave Ibadan DisCo a collection efficiency of 85.97 per cent and a revenue recovery efficiency of 74.59 per cent.
