The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has hinted Nigerian telecoms subscribers to wary of falling victims of fictitious phishing scams and other forms of e-fraud that prowl on the internet. The commission, in a statement signed Thursday by Ikechukwu Adinde, its director of public affairs, warned Nigerians to protect their accounts and never let down their guards. Latest report by Kaspersky has shown that no fewer than two million people suffered from phishing attacks between April and June this year. The cyber security firm said it detected exactly 2,023,501 phishing attacks in South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Nigeria, Rwanda and Ethiopia. It added that a number of new tricks have also been found – from HR dismissal emails to attacks disguised as delivery notifications.
