Dr Kasali succeeds Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, whose four-year tenure ended in line with the company’s policy of rotational chairmanship among its six shareholder states. Ashiru remains on the Board until 2028, when he completes his second and final term.
Dr Kasali has served as a director of Odu’a Investment Company Limited since 2020. He holds a medical degree from the State Medical Institute, Zaporozhye, Ukraine, and has served as Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and as Lagos State Commissioner for Rural Development, Health and Special Duties. He also championed the establishment of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Safety Commission.
Under Ashiru’s chairmanship, the company implemented its SRC 1.0 (“Sweat, Revive and Create”) Strategic Framework, launched in 2021 and concluded in 2025. The period saw stronger corporate governance, a rebalanced investment portfolio, and the redevelopment of Premier Hotel, Ibadan. The company posted a record Profit Before Tax of N23.58bn for the 2025 financial year, and its credit rating was upgraded by Agusto & Co. from A+ to Aa-. The SRC 2.0 Strategic Framework began implementation in January 2026.
Speaking after his inauguration, Dr Kasali thanked the Board and shareholders for their confidence and pledged to build on the existing foundation. His immediate priority is implementing the SRC 2.0 Strategic Framework (2026–2030), anchored on “Sweat, Repurpose and Consolidate.” The strategy targets N30bn in cash-backed Profit Before Tax, N1trn in total assets, and N50bn in Group revenue by 2030.
The Board commended Ashiru’s leadership and said the smooth succession, with the immediate past chairman remaining on the Board until 2028, reflects the company’s commitment to governance and long-term sustainability.
Odu’a Investment Company Limited is owned by six South-West states: Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti and Lagos.
