Ekiti-based Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi also known as Chef Dammy, has surpassed Hilda Baci’s 100-hour Cook-a-thon record.
The chef, on Tuesday, shared the new record on her Instagram page while celebrating the feat.
Damilola commenced her 120 hours cook-a-thon on Friday June 9 but she became a cynosure in a viral video after she reportedly completed 15 hours of the 120 hours earmarked for the cooking.
Indeed, her attempt to set a new world record has been condemned by many netizens who accused the chef of attempting to break Hilda’s ‘yet to be confirmed’ attempt by the Guinness World Record.
Although, such criticism has been tempered and replaced with goodwill after following Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, took to social media to celebrate the chef’s attempt to break the Guinness World Record in the longest cooking category with a 120 hours target.
Chef Dammy also caught the attention of a Nigerian doctor, Dr. Ayo Arojo, who gifted the young chef N500,000 and a two weeks cooking tour of the US.
Announcing his offers for Chef Dammy, Arojo, via his Facebook page also drummed up support for the Ekiti Chef writing;
“Chef Dammy will be invited for a two-week cook tour in the United States. I can’t wait for her to start the process!
“Let us continue to support her.”
As every minute passes, Dammy is closer to her goal and more fans and beating up support for her.
