May & Baker Nigeria Plc has warned members of the public against a fraudulent investment scheme circulating online under the name “M&B Equity Stake”.
The company raised the alarm in a public notice dated August 17, 2026, saying materials promoting the scheme were being circulated through social media, messaging applications and other online platforms.
The company said the purported investment opportunity promises investors daily or guaranteed returns.
May & Baker stated that it had no connection with the scheme, describing it as fraudulent and unauthorised.
“Any person, platform, flier, message, website or other communication soliciting funds from the investing public in the name of May & Baker Nigeria Plc in connection with an ‘M&B Equity Stake’ or similar investment opportunity is fraudulent, unauthorised and not issued by or on behalf of the Company,” the company said.
It urged members of the investing public to disregard the communications and avoid making payments or releasing personal or financial information in response to them.
The company also advised anyone who encounters the scheme to report the activity to the appropriate authorities.
May & Baker further disclosed that it was not currently undertaking any rights issue, public offer or other capital-raising exercise involving the solicitation of investments from the public.
The company said any future capital-raising exercise would be formally communicated through its authorised channels and conducted in line with applicable laws, regulations and the requirements of the Nigerian Exchange Limited and other relevant regulatory authorities.
