ATCON Inducted as Pioneer Member of Federation of African Digital Businesses

The umbrella body of telecoms operators in Nigeria, the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has been inducted as a founding member of Federation of African Digital Businesses (FADB).
According to ATCON President, Tony Emoekpere, the induction happened at in Marrakech, Morocco, on May 30, 2024.

The membership of the Federation is currently comprised of Nigeria, Morocco, Djibouti, Cameroon, Rwandan, Congo and Brazzaville. The remaining African countries are expected to join before the end of this year.
Emoekpere said: “We are pleased to inform the general public that our Association has been inducted as a pioneer member of the Federation of African Digital Businesses (FAD).”
According to him, member countries of the body have collectively decided to establish the headquarters of the federation in Casablanca, and it shall be funded by the Kingdom of Morocco for the first five years.
Speaking further, the ATCON boss said: “The objectives of the federation are to encourage the membership of all African businesses operating in the digital sector, with the aim of strengthening economic integration and regional cooperation in this field.
“We are committed to working together to create a business-friendly environment in the digital sector in Africa, fostering innovation, growth, competitiveness, and wealth creation for African businesses in this strategic sector, as well as job creation.”
He further noted that ATCON has informed all the relevant agencies under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy of the status of the Association in the African digital space.
