Nigeria takes delivery of MTN’s 300,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses     The Nigerian government has received the first set of 300,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines out of a total of 1.4 million doses designated for Nigeria by the AU. The vaccines are a combination of doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX facility, and from the African Union’s (AU) COVID-19 vaccination programme, towards which the MTN Group contributed $25 million. Africa needs $9bn to buy, distribute 1.4bn doses of COVID-19 vaccines —WHO

The World Health Organisation says Africa will need at least $9bn to procure and distribute 1.4 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines. The Immunisation and Vaccines Development Programme Coordinator, WHO, Dr. Richard Mihigo, said this on Thursday at the WHO Africa online press briefing on ramping up preparedness for COVID-19 vaccine roll-out in Africa.
