Qatar Spends Historical $300BN to Host 2022 FIFA World Cup

Qatar, the host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup has created a new record of spending the highest amount of money to host any FIFA tournament. The tournament will commence on Sunday November 20, 2022.

Planning for the tournament, Qatar has so far spent over $300 billion in preparation for the FIFA tournament that was last hosted in Russia in 2018.

Several transformations had happened within the beautiful city of Doha, with several buildings and renovations erected, and over eight new artificial stadia have been constructed among others.

Qatar is the first Middle East nation to host the FiFA world Cup, second in all of Asia after the 2002 Korea/Japan host, and is preparing to host more games than the previous world cups have provided, with a total of 64 matches scheduled, as from Sunday.

Although, several concerns and boycott has happened with regards to Qatar being the host. From the LGBT communities to labour community, have questioned how the constructions of facilities that host the World Cup are being constructed

The FIFA world cup in Qatar had larger views than the previous one in Russia, which had about 3.6 billion people watched and also generated a higher revenue than the previous $5.6 billion generated in the previous edition from Moscow.
