OADC CEO Ayotunde Coker Receives 2024 Digital Economy Personality Awards

The Chief Executive Officer of Open Access Data Centre (OADC)), Dr. Ayotunde Coker, has added another leaf to his cap as a critical stakeholder and driver of digital economy in Nigeria.

Dr. Coker, who has proven himself now and again as a pillar of Africa’s data centre aspirations, emerged as one of the 50 Most Valuable Personalities in Nigeria’s Digital Economy at the MVPs Awards organized recently by ITEdge Africa.

Receiving the award, he shared the stage with other personalities such as the National Commissioner of Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr. Vincent Olatunji; Publicity Manager at Meta Platforms, Sade Dada; Chief Executive Officer, Digital Realty, Engineer Ikechukwu Nnamani; President of the Association of Telecom Companies of Nigeria, Mr. Tony Izuagbe Emoekpere; the Regional Executive – West Africa – at Africa Data Centres, Dr. Krishnan Ranganath, among others.

According to the organisers of the event, MVPs Awards serves as the leading platform to identify and honour top individuals whose contributions are shaping Nigeria’s digital economy landscape and accelerating the growth and sustainability of the sector.

Dr. Cooker is associated with the growth and sustainability of the data centre industry in Nigeria and the rest of Africa. He is the chief of the influential industry group, the Africa Data Centre Association.

Before joining the OADC as the CEO, Dr. Coker led Rack Centre to becoming a household name in Nigeria and a leading brand in Africa, with global recognition and numerous prestigious awards.

Throughout a distinguished international career as a technology and business leader, Coker has held senior positions in finance, energy, management consulting and UK Government.

His achievements have been recognised across the digital economy sector within and outside the continent. Coker is one of the pillars that configured Africa’s data centre aspirations.
