The Board Members Club of Abeokuta (BMCA), guided by its slogan “Empowering Change”, has successfully carried out its Welcome Back to School outreach programme at Lantoro High School, Oke-lantoro, Abeokuta, providing educational support packages to less privileged students.

The initiative was organised to support vulnerable students ahead of the new academic session and to reinforce the importance of education as a foundation for personal and societal development.

Educational materials and essential school items were distributed to beneficiaries, easing the financial burden on parents and guardians amid prevailing economic challenges.

Speaking at the event, the President of the Club, Architect Kayode Adekola, described the outreach as a reflection of the organisation’s enduring commitment to education and community service.

“Education remains one of the most powerful tools for shaping the future of our society,” Adekola said. “By supporting these students, we are not only helping them return to school with confidence, but also investing in the long-term development of our community.”

He further noted that the Club’s focus extends beyond charitable gestures to sustainable social impact, particularly in areas that directly affect children and young people.

“Our responsibility as a collective goes beyond ourselves,” he added. “We believe that every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn, regardless of background or circumstance.”

Architect Adekola also expressed appreciation to all members of the club, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, acknowledging their collective support, contributions, and commitment which made the outreach a success.

Members of the Board Members Club of Abeokuta actively participated in identifying beneficiaries from their respective areas, ensuring that the outreach reached students who were genuinely in need of support.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Club for the gesture. One of the students described the support as “a big relief for my parents and a motivation to do better in school,” while another beneficiary said the package “has encouraged me to take my studies more seriously this term.”

School representatives and parents commended the Club for its timely intervention, noting that such initiatives play a critical role in supporting public education at the grassroots level.

The leadership of the Board Members Club of Abeokuta reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining similar humanitarian initiatives and expanding future programmes to reach more communities across Abeokuta and beyond.

The successful Welcome Back to School outreach at Lantoro High School stands as another testament to the Club’s dedication to social responsibility, education advocacy, and meaningful community engagement in line with its guiding principle of Leadership in Service.
