Julius Berger Expands Into Saudi Arabia as the Nigerian engineering and construction giant moves to strengthen its international presence through the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
The company disclosed in an ad-hoc announcement on Wednesday that its wholly owned subsidiary, Julius Berger International GmbH (JBI), had resolved to establish and register Julius Berger Gulf LLC, a company limited by shares under Saudi Arabian law. The announcement was made to shareholders, the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public.
According to the company, Julius Berger Gulf LLC will provide advisory services, consulting, design and engineering services, as well as project management in Saudi Arabia.
It said the establishment of the subsidiary would enable Julius Berger International GmbH and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to respond more effectively to emerging business opportunities in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring Gulf markets.
The expansion represents a significant milestone in Julius Berger’s international growth strategy, extending the company’s operations beyond Nigeria into one of the world’s fastest-growing infrastructure markets.
Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in infrastructure, transportation, housing, tourism, industrial development and smart city projects as part of its long-term economic diversification plans. The country’s ambitious development pipeline has attracted engineering, construction and project management firms from around the world.
By establishing a local subsidiary, Julius Berger is positioning itself to compete for advisory, engineering and project management contracts while strengthening its presence in the Middle East.
The move also shows a growing trend among African companies seeking to diversify earnings by expanding into international markets with stronger infrastructure spending and long-term investment opportunities.
Julius Berger has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading engineering and construction companies, delivering major infrastructure projects spanning roads, bridges, buildings, industrial facilities and specialised engineering works.
