MTN Nigeria’s MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB) has appointed Bode Abifarin, former chief operating officer of Flutterwave, as its new managing director and chief executive officer, effective September 1, 2026.

Abifarin has more than 23 years of experience spanning financial services, consulting, digital payments, strategy, operations and business transformation.

At Flutterwave, Abifarin served as chief operating officer, where she was involved in the fintech company’s expansion across multiple markets, development of scalable operating models and engagement with regulators.

Before joining Flutterwave, she spent 15 years at KPMG, rising to associate director in the firm’s management consulting practice.

During her time at KPMG, she advised financial institutions and other organisations across Africa on strategy, transformation, customer experience and business growth.

She also founded Strata Advisory, a technology-focused consulting firm focused on helping businesses scale and achieve sustainable growth.

Commenting on her appointment, Abifarin said joining MoMo PSB represents an opportunity to contribute to the growth of digital financial services in Nigeria.

She identified financial inclusion as a major opportunity to expand economic empowerment and access to financial services across the country.

Abifarin said she would work with MoMo PSB employees, regulators, partners and other stakeholders to deliver innovative, secure and customer-focused financial solutions.

Serigne Dioum, CEO of MTN Group Fintech, said Abifarin’s experience in strategic leadership, operations and fintech positioned her to lead MoMo PSB into its next phase of growth.

Michael Ajukwu, chairman of the MoMo PSB board, also highlighted her experience in payments, digital transformation, stakeholder engagement and financial inclusion.

The appointment comes as MTN reshapes its fintech business and increases its focus on digital financial services across its markets.

In April 2026, MTN Nigeria announced plans to transfer a 60 percent stake in MoMo PSB and Y’ello Digital Financial Services to MTN Group in a transaction valued at ₦152.06 billion.
