President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos later on Tuesday.
Tinubu’s return comes ahead of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations on October 1, when he is scheduled to attend the premiere of a movie honouring the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.
The premiere will take place at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates in Lagos over the coming days as preparations begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
The President is expected to return to Abuja after completing his political engagements in Lagos.
Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation. He spent one week in London before travelling to Paris.
During his stay in France, the President attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and held meetings with business leaders.
He met Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
Tinubu also met Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings, on Monday.
The President had earlier witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and the creation of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
DP World plans to invest $7 billion in the proposed seaport and economic zone, according to the Presidency.
The President’s Lagos engagements will precede his return to Abuja, the statement said.
