Airtel Africa Plc has completed the initial tranche of its share buyback programme after purchasing 24.52 million ordinary shares since the programme began on May 22, 2026.
The telecommunications company disclosed this in a regulatory filing published on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Airtel Africa said the shares were purchased through Barclays Capital Securities Limited under the authority granted by shareholders as part of the buyback programme announced on May 22.
The company purchased a total of 4.61 million shares between September 21 and September 28, bringing its cumulative purchases under the initial tranche to 24,515,062 ordinary shares.
The shares were acquired at a volume-weighted average price of 331.29 pence per share since the commencement of the programme.
For the latest transactions, Airtel Africa bought 1.15 million shares on September 21 at an average price of 310.82 pence per share.
It purchased another 1.23 million shares on September 22 at 314.04 pence per share, while 1.29 million shares were acquired on September 23 at 311.39 pence per share.
The company bought 200,000 shares on September 24 at 306.87 pence per share and another 200,000 shares on September 25 at 301.97 pence.
On September 28, Airtel Africa purchased 536,633 shares at a volume-weighted average price of 306.04 pence per share.
Airtel Africa said the shares purchased under the programme will be cancelled.
The company said the latest transactions represented the final purchases under the initial tranche of the buyback programme and that the tranche had been completed in accordance with its terms.
The transactions were carried out across the London Stock Exchange, BATS Europe, CHI-X Europe, Aquis Exchange and Turquoise.
The latest disclosure did not state whether Airtel Africa would commence another tranche of the buyback programme.
